This year at Autodesk University we had a set of fantastic classes for the Structural Engineering and Fabrication industry.
One of them was “Rebar Detailing to Fabrication Workflows Using Building Information Modeling” presented by Jeff Cochrane - Director, Software Design, Applied Systems Associates, Inc.
During this session attendees learnt how to export 3D rebar detailed in Revit Structure Suite software to a leading rebar MIS (management information system) software product: Applied Software Systems (aSa).
This process drives fabrication processes in the shop and field. During the class many topics were covered, including effective practices for detailing rebar for fabrication, organization of rebar releases in Revit software, the data exportation to and data checking in aSa, and the distribution the 3D rebar data along the supply chain.
